Open virtualbox, select new. Give it a name, and select Windows XP from the drop-down menu.
The default amount of RAM should be enough. In the next screen, select "new". Pick which type of virtual drive you want. Finish up and it will show in the main virtualbox screen.

Select your new computer, and click on "General" at the top right hand of the screen.

Select CD/DVD-ROM from the options on the left. Check "Mount CD/DVD Drive", and select your actual drive on your computer.

Then hit OK and insert your Windoze installation CD. Then select your virtual computer and press "Start". It will then go through the installation setup. It will install to the virtual drive you created.

Make sure when you restart, there is no bootable disc in your drive or it will start installation over again.
