hey there, well what happend is that i just installed Ubuntu and then i installed Virtual Box.... When i try to do a virtual machine for windows xp
it goes to something like this:
VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Please install the virtualbox-ose-modules package for your kernel and execute '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv start' as root.
VBox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).
Result Code:
0x80004005
Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {1dea5c4b-0753-4193-b909-22330f64ec45}
Yep - you'll first need to load that kernel module.
modprobe vboxdrv
Or, as the error message suggests, execute the command "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv start".
If you don't have that module (but you should), you should install it.
edgar@edgar-desktop:~$ sudo apt-cache --search virtualbox
[sudo] password for edgar:
E: Command line option --search is not understood
edgar@edgar-desktop:~$ sudo apt-cache --search virtualbox
E: Command line option --search is not understood
edgar@edgar-desktop:~$
My suggestion is to go to the virtual box download page and download the user manual that provides a step by step on how to install the kernal modules and everything else.
