Having problems with web sites/flash/(?)java(?) on Mac Ubuntu 5.04.

I got my sister a iMac revision B I believe (the one that used SDRam instead of sg(?)ram. everything works beutifully, except that when she goes onto certain websites, it either locks up the web browser, or locks up the computer. I downloaded gplflash, the one that works decent for PPC linux, and I tried to download Java, but I do not think that is the problem. I have used several browsers but none seem to work correctly on those specific sites. Any theories on what the problem may be? She is using Ubuntu linux 5.04 (Hoary Hedghog).

i think GPL flash is your problem here. In my experience it crashed my broswers.....

try the 'real' flash player maybe....

not sure about java and ppc archiecture...

I remember hearing that the real flash is not for PPC linux. Is that true?

can't hurt to try it....

kk will do. be right back with results.

It is only for x86, it will not install. It gives out an error saying it is not supported on the PPC architecture. Has anyone gotten around this problem on there Mac/Linux install?

i dont think so:

Tyvm, I will install qemu as soon as I get back from work.

you could do that, but it only allows you to use the 'stand alone' player. not sure how that would work with webbased content...
