Arrow Hacking an Ubuntu CD so that it loads to RAM

Has anyone hacked an Ubuntu CD so that the SquashFS image gets loaded to RAM instead of having it load from the CD itself? Kinda like how Knoppix does it I guess (haven't used Knoppix in ages). I'm most likely gonna give it a shot this weekend (I'll probably start by studying how Knoppix does it) but I wanted to see if anyone has already done it and would be willing to share tips and stuff.

Are you sure this is supposed to work on the CD? I ask because when I append toram to the boot options on a 7.10 CD it doesn't have any effect. The fact that this functionality has been suggested in Ubuntu Brainstorm makes me think it doesn't currently exist. A couple mintutes ago I ran into this HOWTO, but it looks like it's intended for people that want to boot from the hard disk - I'm aiming toward getting this to work on a box without a hard disk.
