Gutsy has corrupt login screen!!

It worked fine for a couple of days but, for seemingly no reason, the login screen is completely messed up and I can't login. I have Windows on a seperate partition and that works fine!

Help!

Can you provide more detail about what happens when you try to login and what you mean by "messed up". You can login to Ubuntu by doing
  1. CTRL-ALT-F1 at the login screen do
  2. Login to the terminal
  3. Enter the commands
    Code:
    $sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
  4. Start GNOME by doing
    Code:
    $startx
