Anybody know how to alter the resolution of the GDM Login screen on Gutsy.

My problem is that when you boot up the computer the login screen is set to 1600×1200 and all the fonts are teeny-tiny.

Once your logged in the user defined resolution of 1024x768 is displayed correctly.

Things i've tried:-
- Change login theme to debian default and back to ubuntu (suggestion from website)
- Reconfigured Xorg
- Reconfigured gdm (sudo dpkg-reconfigre gdm...)
- Manually removed all resolutions from xorg.conf above 1024x768 and reboot

The hardware is an ATI Radeon 9600xt

GDM appears to be defaulting to the default resolution chosen during the installation process and completely ignoring any settings in xorg.conf.

Sounds like these are virtual display sizes then.

If 1024x768 looks fine, comment out the "Modeline" lines in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file that relate to resolutions higher than you need or want (ie. 1024x768)

Then restart X (ctrl-atl-backspace)
