Ubuntu is a gnome based distro. So there is no way gtk+2 is not installed.

Maybe you need to specify the path

I tried to execute the easylinux python script only to be told the same thing but I'm using Kubuntu Dapper. Tried
Code:
sudo apt-get install gtk
but I just get
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package gtk
mark@ubuntu:~$
Also what you said about needing to specify a path - can you elaborate, please?
