grub doesnt load after re-installing windows
 

hi,
i had a dual boot hp pavilion with ubuntu 7.10 and windows XP. I needed to format my windows...i decided to try vista and made a fresh installation on my C: (windows) drive...i didnt tinker at all with my ubuntu partitons....now my boot starts vista straight away n not the grub loader...is there a way i can get things right wdout reinstalling ubuntu...as u kno reinstalling all the packages wud b a huge pain in the ass....help!!!

Don't panic -Vista overwrote your Master Boot Record (it's very unfriendly :) ). Here's how to restore it:
