Question Graphical glitches

I have Ubuntu running on my PC with an on-board graphics card. The glitches occur: Example picture.
The problem happened on 14.04 and becomes worse after I upgraded to 15.10. I tried installing drivers from 01.org, but I don't think that did anything.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to fix this?

Do you have intel graphics?

Post the output of
Code:
uname -a
From the looks it could be this bug

Yes. I have Intel graphics: Intel® G33 (onboard).
Code:
Linux quachtridat-G31T-M7 4.2.0-21-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 2 18:42:25 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
According to the attachments of users who replied to the bug post in your link, I am sure my problem is the same. I've searched for fixing for days and tried to use UXA instead of SNA accelerator, but the problem still occurs. It usually happens when my PC process a bit harder than idle.

this is the crucial bit.
tell us all & everything - which howtos you followed and why, which commands you executed, what messages you get, in as much detail as possible.

I did what that post said.
The reason was that the thread starter of this thread had the same problem with me. Executed commands were only
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and
Code:
sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
.I pasted these lines into each file:
Code:
Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection
. After that, I restarted my PC. There were no any warning messages.

This is not fixable casually, you'll need to make a bug-report to devs
Here are some general guidelines https://01.org/linuxgraphics/documen...ow-report-bugs

You can consult #intel-gfx on freenode irc if you need some assistance

+1 for making a bug report, but i'm sure you'll be wanting a workaround.

in this forum post it says that you should test for SNA accel first:
Code:
sudo cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -iE 'sna|uxa'
did you do that beforehand?

after editing the files and rebooting, try the same command again.

if it worked, you should get "SNA" results for the first time and "UXA" results for the second time.

if it still doesn't help we need your computer's exact name (preferably a link), and the output of
Code:
lspci -k

I did launch this command:
Code:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep SNA
At first, it showed that SNA was active/running. After configuring as I said, I re-launched the command and Terminal showed nothing, which meant SNA was no longer running.
This is the output of your given command:

i can't see what the problem could be.
please also post
Code:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | tail
dmesg | tail
right after the problem occurs.

your card is ca. 5years old, and searching, it seems you're not the only one having problems with it, but i can't see any obvious solution.
maybe this can help:

it doesn't even show up in those logs.

why do you have only 1024x768 screen resolution?
this is not a laptop?
are you using some really old monitor that cannot provide more?

I don't know why there is only 1024x768 and 800x600, although there are some tips to change my resolution.
Yes, this is not a laptop. I'm using my PC.
I'm using CPU Intel Core 2 Duo with Intel G33 onboard graphics, and my monitor can display up to 1280x1024 (works normally on Windows OS). Is it "a really old monitor that cannot provide more" as you've just said?

try changing the resolution to 1280x1024 before we continue troubleshooting your problem.
every monitor should run at native=maximum resolution (that is a subjective statement, not a technical one).
