GoogleEarth crashes with Feisty and nVidia

Am using skipjack-Feisty and an nVidia GeForce FX 5200 card w/256 Mb, a duo core, 1 Gb RAM, the most recent nVidia driver from nVida (100.14.9) and every time i run GE, it crashes.

i had this working on a previous version of the OS but now...

i've seen posts that suggest that the driver be replaced by an older version. Does this look right? If so, where can i get the driver (as in an URL, please).

Thanks and have a great afternoon!

A bit of this and bit that not tested together can lead to problem. I don't know what "skipjack" Ubuntu is and see that you compiled your own nvidia driver. Either of those may be your problem. I have the same video card and run a system primarily based on the Ubuntu repositories. "nvidia-glx" package supports that video card nicely and will be kept in sync with the kernel in the repository.

I'd have to agree with fragos. I had that video card for a while, with Google Earth, and it was fine. I've since upgraded, and it's still fine. Why not just use the driver in the repositories?

What is skipjack, I googled a bit for it, but it seemed to keep referencing RedHat.

crash, feisty fawn, googleearth, nvidia
