Going to buy a Wireless Card for Kubuntu Gutsy

Hi Guys,

I've recently intalled kubuntu 7.10 for the first time, and I'm now going to buy a wireless card, but here in Oz we have pretty limited choices in most places. The four options i have are:

D-link DWL-g510 (i get the impression this is a nono)
D-link DWL-g520 (i get the impression this is a reasonable choice)
Netgear WG311v2 (again, reasonable choice it seems)
Asus WL-138G V2 (says that it works on ubuntu wiki, but that i'll need to install new firmware)

Oh, they're all PCI cards...

Help! Which one? Anyone have experience with any of these?

Cheers, Omar

Check the LQ Hardware Compatibility List (HCL link at the top of the page).

I wanted a wireless PCI card too, but ended up buying the D-Link DWL-G730AP instead. It's a 3-in-1 and just uses your regular ethernet port, so I can even use it on old linux laptops or Windows 98 machines as long as they have an ethernet card. I did find that the WPA support worked okay (after flashing the firmware), but it doesn't allow special characters in the WPA key (like @,!,etc).
