Gnome not working after installing Xfce

Hi,

After I installed and used Xfce in Ubuntu, I am not able to log into Gnome. When I log on, it does some thinking and returns me back to the login screen.

However, the safe mode for Gnome works, where it does not execute the startup script.

Could someone please help me out with this? Xfce is great, but I'd love to get back to Gnome. I have a lot of resources to spare!

Thanks

Danish

Post what GDM's Gnome file tries to do (I forget which file it is because I don't have GDM installed right now). You could try getting out of GDM at boot, then doing
Code:
echo exec gnome-session > ~/.xinitrc
then
Code:
startx
