As far as I am concerned my 14.04 64 is totally broken (network manager)! I know some people seem to think they have a fix but I have tried some to NO avail.
I went to the genome web site last night and looked all around at the network managers (therin is my problem like hundreds of other people)
They (gnome) has a status page of problems and current status. The Network Manager 0.9.8.8.0 version 1 whitch I had is in that list with a status of "in work" meaning they haven't found a fix yet.
So that brings me to this question, what are they using in the current versions of (14.04) is it the same one I had that's liable to blow up at any time? It's a really a great distro except for the network manager.
Also, I have to get a disk of the 14.04 and reload the whole thing (No worling Internet connection) so where can I buy a disk? Ebay has them, but I really hate to buy from them.
I know you can download from here (LQ) but can one buy the program on a disk from LQ?
***Can you not get a friend or neighbour to download the .iso image and burn it to DVD for you?
It has to be worth a beer and you get the DVD faster/cheaper.
Thanks beachboy2, I only have one neighbor with a computer and he's a real donkey, sorry to say! I tried a couple stores and they just said flat NO. Looked at me like I was ging to steal their children, HA, I've got enough problems. I'll order, no other choice.
I once ordered Ubuntu 10.04 repository DVDs from them (snapshots of the complete software repositories of the distribution). They told me I would receive the goods after some 10 days, but I got them even a few days earlier, after just 6 days.
Based on my experience, I would certainly recommend them.
Thanks to all for their help. I bought/ordered it from OSDisc.
I have bought disc's form OSDisc and have always had good service. The last time I bought 4 disc's and had issues with one, so they promptly refunded me for that one.
I would recommend this seller.

Reason: typo
I was orginally going to get 14.04 but after thinking about it, I just went ahead and ordered 16.04. Might as well get the latest, just hope it isn't using the same Network Manager as 14.0!
As a side note, when I ordered, I opted for the express shipping because I'm way behind in my work and need to get this thing going. The disk was $5.95 (I think) but the shipping was $18.??, this shipping thing has beecome worse then the mofia! Hmmmmm, maybe that's what they are!

Hi...
You chose express shipping, that's probably why. That's never cheap.
Well I was asked to come back and report so here it is:
The disc was ordered on May 28 (overnight shipping express) I received it June 3, 2016 ($24.20)
I tried installing it but everything just started going south, finally it installed but when I started to configure it, things went from bad to worse. Finally a note popped up from Ubuntu saying there was a bad error in the software and wanted my help in getting information such as logs and statement of what went wrong. After that it started to hang for different lengths of time.
The only thing good was I could get on the Internet. So, I downloaded the program Ubuntu 16.04 64bit from the Ubuntu site. After transferring it to disc (using K3b) I loaded it to my computer with no problems.
This afternoon I started loading some software through "Ubuntu Software" and this happened:
I have "two" app symbols that are the same. One is called "System Monitor" the other "System Load Indicator" even though they are graphically the same (Later I saw there was actually another version with no name in the Ubuntu software file you download from.
They both show I have "two" app symbols that are the same. One is called "System Monitor" the other "System Load Indicator" even though they are graphically and internally the same. The one called System Load Indicator is locked in the software app menu with the install bar sticking through the symbol horizontally. This happened because I didn't realize I already had it and tried to download another version with a different name, so some sort of internal dependency conflict probably took place, I guess, don't really know!!
I requested a refund of the $18.20 from OSDisc but am darn sure that jerk outfit won't deliver a refund. It will be a Cold day in Hades before I ever have any dealings with OSDisc again!! I think they are duping a disc over and over for the public to buy!
That's about it, everything is fine now except for contacting Ubuntu tomorrow and telling them about the 3 versions of the same app and the frozen app in the app menu and finding out how to delete it, if anyone knows please don't hesitate to tell me how, later guys.
