Hi Lola...

Do you remember which one you had originally before you started installing software, "System Load Indicator" or "System Monitor?" Whichever one you installed, you can try uninstalling using the Synaptic Package Manager.

Otherwise, I'm glad that Ubuntu is working well for you this time around.

Hi Ardvark71. Originally I had System Monitor.

However the problem solved itself! When I shut down and restarted, the stuck version (System Load Indicator) was gone from the menu and system.
