Gaim "Unable to read"

Fresh Ubuntu Linux install. I'm trying to connect via Gaim to Yahoo's service and Google GTalk .. as soon as I hit connect I'm getting a message saying that normal authentication method has failed. Another error window sais: "Unable to read". Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know of a fix?

Never would have considered the possibility..

The problem is fixed, apparently I needed to install libmeanwhile1

Hi
I have been having the same trouble with gaim, after "initialising stream" I get read error message, I tried searching for libmeanwhile1 (libmeanwhile0 is avilable) for fc5, couldn't get it at rpm.pbone.net, is it ubuntu specific?
Any idea?
Edit: same problem in yahoo also, though am able to connect to msn msngr

P.S.: It *might* also have something to do with Yahoo's new site/mail service blah blah. so try to log in to the yahoo mail site with your username before trying again. Can't be absolutely sure which is the fix but this combination worked for me.
