FTP in UBUNTU is diff what i learnt in my Redhat Enterprise flavour
Hii all,
I am still newbie in GNU/Linux and going for my RHCE. But from few yrs i have been using UBUNTU . So the thing is I have installed my FTP in Redhat and I get a ftp folder in /var folder, and it is simple to configure and use. But I am not able to get a proper help and also proper configuration procedure for Creating a FTP server on my UBUNTU workstation.I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.
Then, you can proceed with configuring your FTP server.
Thanq for this. I know that I'm not clear with my question, but I would like to know more. like when we install apache we get www folder, ans in RHEL when we install vsftpd we get /var/ftp .But the thing is in ubuntu when i install using the above command or when I Install vsftpd I dont get the directory. That is where my question raised.
You can configure VSFTPD to use any folder you want, so it is somewhat illogical to create a folder for you at installation time. If you want to create /var/ftp then create it and configure VSFTPD to use it.
