Fresh install error, sudo very slow, 'disk sleep'
I just reformatted and installed Kubuntu 9.04 64bit (twice actually because I got the same problem both times). It is behaving very strangely. Many of my programs hang for ~30 seconds before doing anything specifically sudo and kdesu. Doing a console login straight after a fresh install, typing "sudo echo" in the console will take ~30 seconds before asking for my password. This happens with most programs and makes it completely unusable.
I've searched alot and found people talking about corrupted /etc/hosts file, however mine seems fine. (127.0.0.1 localhost and 127.0.1.1 hostname )
When I go look at the process table, I see all the processes that are currently lagging say "disk sleep" in the CPU column, so I searched for this however I couldn't find anything very helpful. Is this a harddrive issue, some people said they had similar problems with NFS shares, however I don't have any such shares.
Any ideas what's going on? Thanks in advance.
