Is there a decent Ubuntu forum that doesn't require membership in the Ubuntu One cloud? I'm used to storing data on devices that I myself control, so I'm a bit leery of clouds and such.

I just got an email saying "We are writing to you to notify you that we will be shutting down the Ubuntu One file services, effective 1 June 2014." I'm glad I didn't jump on board and load a bunch of files there.
Yeah, I was surprised by this. Ubuntu One was supposed to be a new revenue stream for Canonical. I guess it was not as profitable as they had hoped it would be. They are shutting down their music download service also: https://one.ubuntu.com/services/shutdown/ http://blog.canonical.com/2014/04/02...file-services/
If you have any data on there that you do not want to loose, be sure to download it before 07/31/14 or it will be gone forever.
