Forgot PASSWORD !!!
 
Dear friends,
I am installed UBUNTU in my PIII machine. But what happened is i was forgotten my password the user created at the time of installation. What to do next ?. What will be the ROOT password or how i enter in to the ADMINISTRATOR account to break the user password.

Use boot disk and open /etc/passwd file. If /etc/shadow file exist's then open it instead. Blank the field after root field that it should look root::

Then boot up and it wouldn't ask password. Then afterwards change password with passwd command.

BIBU
You can try recovery mode. I don't think it asks for a password and gives you root access. You can then give yourself a new password and then reboot.
