Hay all, this is my first install of Ubu, I was using slackware 10.3, I upgraded to alck 11 tonight and it turned out to hate my laptop so iv tried this instead.

Anyway, I am trying to get my wetworking running and I am not having much luck at all.

My card which device manager can see, is an sis900 on board.

My router which does my DHCP is a netgear.

Now.

I can set my IP in ub to something like 192.168.0.6 and I can then http://192....1 into my router so the card is doing something.

But when I try to set it up with DHCP(the only way i know of getting net access through the router) it just fails and falls flat on its arse. I get nothing from it at all.

Thanks for any replies, PS. I am still a nix noob so please give as much detail as possible if you know of a fix.

Sounds like a DNS problem.

Is your DHCP scope distributing a DNS server address to the DHCP client(s)?

Yeah I got it fixed...
