Fiesty not running CD drive

I installed Edgy from the CD drive okay, but it would not run the drive later. I then
upgraded to Fiesty with the hopes the problem would go away, it didn't.

This is on a Dell Inspiron 4150.

The drive is in the fstab and seems to be setup correctly, but when I put in either a audio or data CD nothing happens.

Does anyone have an ideas?

Thanks,
John

You need to be sure that you have GNOME mount the CD when you insert it. Go to [ System -> Preferences -> Removable Drives And Media ] and make sure that the options for mounting removable media are all checked. Then eject and reinsert your disc. You can check if there is some sort of IO error preventing your drive from reading the disc by doing
Code:
dmesg | tail
or
Code:
dmesg | grep /dev/hda (or whatever your CD drive is)

Benanzo -- Thanks for the pointer, as I use KDE I forgot about the Preferences, they were all checked but I unchecked them saved and then checked them agin and saved.

The CD drive is now working.

Thanks again,
John
