ffmpeg zoneminder and permissions.

I upgraded my dapper install with zoneminder too 8.04 lts.
For some reason I can no longer create a video of captured images with in Zoneminder.

Normally ffmpeg will create a log file in the event folder where the images I tried to make a video with exist. But it is not there. I have tried several times. All I can fine in other logs is that there was an error and the path too look for the ffmpeg log that does not exist.

I think it's a permission issue , as the /var/www/events folder is owned by (www-data) I set the group too My login and that didn't help.
I was thinking of chown 755 /var/www/events but was scared it might bust it so figured I might ask here first.

Thanks
Allan
