fail to start after uninstall openoffice?
hi folks,
ubuntu 6.06.1
at first, the openoffice doesn't work,so i unintalled it in Synaptic,i uninstalled the scim too.
i did those in GNOME.after that,i login out and into KDE and set the KDE as the default session.when i restart i cann't enter the ubuntu now.when i boot it hang at "mounting root file system ok".in the 'recovery mode' ,it says at the end:

would you tell me how can i boot into ubuntu ?should i install openoffice and scim by the Ubuntu install CD?how can i do it?

Seems you shouldn't have uninstalled OpenOffice. I think your system needs glib. But I don't know how to get that far, never had such a problem.

Oups ... what I wanted to write is that I don't know how to install software on a system that doesn't but up any more. Sorry.

but i can't find any option for repairing in the CD whose name is "Version 6.06 LTC for you PC",could anyone tell where is the option?
to hansalfredche,
there is a feature of the install cd that i still can visit the files on harddisk of my PC,i once thought there may be some booting files which could be copied to my computer ,then it can boot up too.Are there?

As said, I never had such problems. But fixing the problem probably requires access to to synaptic. Best solution is probably to backup your personal files (the whole /home directory), reinstall and then put back the folder /home.

I've never used 6.06 but Edgy and Feisty have the option, at least on the livecd. It's on the initial menu when you bootup.
