Evince pdf always goes to save mode when I select open.

I was saving several pdf files and saw the option "to save all" or something like that. I chose the "save" option. It worked fine and saved me some time. Now when I just want to "open" a "LINK" to a file it will only "save" file. How do I reset the option back to option "open" / save" document?

Try run evince from the terminal;

Quote:
--$/usr/bin/evince
then try open the file, and read the debug recital from the terminal that opened evince. You will probably get some hint in there what is happening. And for the solutions you can gather it from evince itself--

Quote:
--$/usr/bin/evince --help-all
Good luck and enjoy.

roger@rogerlaptop:~$ --$/usr/bin/evince
bash: --$/usr/bin/evince: No such file or directory

I have updated the "problem" discription after reading several other postings. This may be a more accurate description of my problem.

"Now when I just want to "open" a "LINK" to a file it will only "save" file. How do I reset the option back to option "open" / save" document?"

Thank you.

Maybe Ubuntu has place the script executable somewhere else. Try find it--

Quote:
roger@box-$ which evince
Then, finding the executable file try issue this--

Quote:
roger@box-$ evince ----sm-client-state-file=NULL
Then try to Open and Save any pdf file.

Actually if evince has openly pointed us where it keeps the err-log file that would have been helpful, but since, here even in my slackware it provides no hint, our solution can only go by trial and error. So TRY to do my suggestion if nothing else is available.

Good luck.
