eternal hdd problem

Hi,

As you may have read from other threads in the ubuntu section of the forum, I am having a problem accessing my external usb hdd in ubuntu. I have issued the following command at the prompt:

mount -t ntfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/

I get this reply:

mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /mnt busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is mounted on /

Therefore, I am assuming from this that my external usb hdd has already been successfully mounted. However, I cannot see any icons relating to it on my desktop or in my the "computer" folder.

Any ideas?

Post your /etc/fstab file with external device connected and turned on.
