/etc/crontab and a big UH-OH!

I didn't like the 7 AM daily run-parts time, so I edited /etc/crontab to change it to 4:10 AM Well, 4:10 came and went, and nothing happened. BAD news, as it's not rotating anything, no reports, nothing. Here's the modded crontab and below that the perms:
SHELL=/bin/sh
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin

# m h dom mon dow user command
17 * * * * root cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly
10 4 * * * root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily )
30 4 * * 7 root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.weekly )
52 4 1 * * root test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.monthly )

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 724 2007-09-13 09:47 /etc/crontab

An idea, please?

Hmm, I understand this less and less. I changed it to 4:30 AM, went by, then at 4:38 it RAN!

It did not rotate logs, which I wouldn't expect on a daily basis, but, when DOES it rotate logs?

What's going on, and what do I need to know?

my *guess* would be that something is detecting it has not yet been a full 24hrs since it last ran. I'd leave it be and see how it behaves tomorrow...

Yes, good advice, and thank you for that. We'll see in the AM.
