open xorg.conf in your favorite editor in root rights.
search for a part where it say's defaultdepth 24(or some other number)
the go a bit further down you'll recognize screen resolutions set for the different depths just add you preffered screen size in the following format:
"1152x864" "1024x768"
(srry dont have a reference here for the exact stuff if ya need it ill (or someone else) post it later

It will take effect on reboot and I believe is you just restart X by logging out and in.

I'm experiencing the same problems (or similar). Can't halt, reboot or logout without getting a blank screen and a locked up system, forcing me to reset/shutdown via the power button. Pretty annoying. I'm running Edgy Eft with Fluxbox and I just installed a widescreen TFT (1680x1050, HorizSync 30-81 VertRefresh 56-75).

Thanks.
I did try that and everything seems to be configured correctly. I also added "vga=ask" in my /boot/grub/menu.lst but didnt learn much from that either.
What's "kernel options"? What file do I edit if I want to change some kernel options? I read something about a kernel option change that might help me.
Any help is much appreciated!
