Enabling ACPI causes jerky PS2 mouse

Hi

Currently, I'm using Edgy Eft. I have a problem with an Intel SE440BX mainboard. In order to get it shut down correctly I have to add acpi=force as boot parameter to menu.lst. However, this causes PS2 mouses to be horribly jerky. An USB mouse from another machine works just fine (connected to the PS2 port with an adapter it gets jerky too).

Any ideas?
