Smile enabled kde desktop effects, bad move

I'm new to Kubuntu 8.10, using KDE 4.1. Loving it so far. But my screen resolution wasn't looking right....
.... so I played with some of the settings, it was all going alright until I enabled desktop effects and started playing with those settings.

Now I have a desktop that just has one color, no windows, no task manager so can't open anything (i'm using the live cd). The only thing that works is the ctrl+tab feature, which has all the colors and works!

What file do I edit, from the live cd, to turn this feature off for now, so I can use my desktop again?

Thanks in advance

Hit Alt-Shift-F12 together to turn off kde desktop effects.
