embedded wmv/mov/etc. in Firefox
I have a problem. I can play wmv/avi/mov/divx/etc. files through Xine, but I cannot, say, go to ifilm.com and view any movies on that site. I can't view movie files through firefox, but I can view them out of it. How would I go about getting firefox to play embedded movie files?

Make sure you have extra repositories enabled
Then open a terminal and type in:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mozilla-mplayer mplayer-386 mplayer-fonts
If the mplayer plugin doesn't work, you can try a package called mozplugger.

Sweet, thanks!
However, I also installed mplayerplug-in before this, and now it's giving me trouble - it crashes firefox whenever it runs, but it doesn't run all the time. The other times it uses Xine.
Also, whenever I'm on ifilm.com, Xine cannot recognize the file, and can't play it.

I had some trouble with iFilm using the Quicktime and Windows Media Player settings. When I used RealPlayer, the MPlayer plugin worked just fine for that (I should mention, of course, that I have RealPlayer installed, too).

I stumbled upon a similar problem yesterday. It seems that some sites simply refuse to work with "mplayerplug-in". Apple's movie trailer site was ok, but this another one ( www.raiclick.tv) did not function.
In addition to "mplayerplug-in" you could try "kaffeine" with "kaffeine-mozilla" -plugin.
