Edubuntu Password

Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

I've installed Edubuntu on my machine and my password to get in to it does not seem to be working. I'm just wondering if there is a way into this operating system with out the password or if there is a way to find out what my password is to be able to activate Edubuntu. I would appreciate any help or thoughts as how to get by the password so that I can access the programs on it.

Edubuntu until 6.06 just came without asking a root password at install time (that sucks), I don't know later.
The "Rescue a broken system" option of the edubuntu CD is harden than doing this:

Boot a live-cd, anyone.
As root (assuming your edubuntu root partition is in /dev/hda5 and the mountpoints in /mnt)

# mount /mnt/hda5
# chroot /mnt/hda5
# passwd

Enter a new password for root. Now you can have root access in the console of edubuntu and create or modify your users.
