There is no way to edit the bookmarks file that I can find. Some of the bookmarked pages I want deleted, but no way to do it.
Is any editing software available?
Also is there a really good browser besides FireFox?
If you mean the file containing your Firefox bookmarks, you can delete the bookmarks directly in Firefox itself (Click on Bookmarks, right-click the one you don't want, click Delete) and the result will be registered in your own bookmarks file.
If you're after something more sophisticated, I'm afraid you're out of my league!

I know exactly what you mean, that does not work.
When I right click (the one I want to delete) to get the menu drop, there is no menu. I am sent back to the last website I was at or elswhere, it's random.
Do you see what I mean?
My last gasp at a possible fix: try clicking on Show All Bookmarks - that gives you the Library page. In the right-hand panel, double-click on Bookmarks Menu. That should show you the entire contents of your bookmarks. If you have them arranged as categories, double-click again on the category that contains the one bookmark you want to delete. When you get to the level of the target bookmark, right-click it - that SHOULD give you the Delete option (bottom item of the drop-down menu).
