Editing bookmarks ? Alternate browser?

Runing Ubuntu 12.04, all updates have been made.

There is no way to edit the bookmarks file that I can find. Some of the bookmarked pages I want deleted, but no way to do it.
Is any editing software available?

Also is there a really good browser besides FireFox?

If you mean the file containing your Firefox bookmarks, you can delete the bookmarks directly in Firefox itself (Click on Bookmarks, right-click the one you don't want, click Delete) and the result will be registered in your own bookmarks file.

If you're after something more sophisticated, I'm afraid you're out of my league!

Editing the Firefox bookmarks manually looks messy, since it's not a simple text file.

If you find Firefox's built-in bookmark editing lacking, there are various addons for working with bookmarks. For example:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ons/bookmarks/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...platform=linux

I know exactly what you mean, that does not work.
When I right click (the one I want to delete) to get the menu drop, there is no menu. I am sent back to the last website I was at or elswhere, it's random.
Do you see what I mean?

Hi Dave, I would rather find out what is wrong with the bookmarks file before going to another program.

Does the problem occur when you run Firefox in Safe Mode?
This page has some troubleshooting tips:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...slug=Safe+Mode

By the way, what version of Firefox are you running? The latest one is 34.0.

I would move your profile directory then set things up again. May just be profild issues on upgrade.

My last gasp at a possible fix: try clicking on Show All Bookmarks - that gives you the Library page. In the right-hand panel, double-click on Bookmarks Menu. That should show you the entire contents of your bookmarks. If you have them arranged as categories, double-click again on the category that contains the one bookmark you want to delete. When you get to the level of the target bookmark, right-click it - that SHOULD give you the Delete option (bottom item of the drop-down menu).

If that doesn't work, blame Firefox! ;-))

the firefox bookmarks are easy to edit
-- dose take time--

just drag and drop them

or to edit the name
r-click on it and select "properties "
and edit away

now if you manually edited the xml bookmark file
it is VERY easy to FUBAR it and leave in a extra close or remove one too many close tags

Bookmarks -> show all bookmarks.

You can do whatever you want there, including editing or deleting them.
