okay.. so I was FINALLY able to get an xorg.conf file to generate! Thank you all so much for being patient with me. It has definitely been a learning process and an experience. I will keep a backup of my new file once I have it tweaked..
below is the file that generated. I'd appreciate some assistance with editing it. This is for an old IBM Thinkpad T30 I only have one display.. and I'd like the default resolution set to 1280x960 at the highest/best color possible.
