Edgy and RT2400 wireless

Hi, i used to have ubuntu 6.06 installed on my computer and my wireless was working fine. I decided to install ubuntu 6.10, i configured my rt2400 wireless card and when i activated it (using the "networking" tool provided) the system crashes. This didn't happen with the previous ubuntu version. What can i do to activate my wireless card ?
Thanks a lot

Well, my wireless is now working. What i did is not very practical or intelligent but it works :S. I installed a clean copy of dapper, configured the wireless lan and then updated to edgy. If anyone finds a way to do it without having to do all that, please let us know.
Thanks a lot

Hi,

somebody at the rt2x00 forum told me that the rt2400 driver is incompatible with an smp-enabled kernel. The default ubuntu kernel has smp enabled and thus the crash.

I've installed the linux-386 kernel from the ubuntu-repositories and with this kernel no more crashes. Backside is clearly that this kernel will not use your expensive dual-core processor to the maximum. :-(

The interface still does not connect to my AP but that is a different problem alltogether.

Cheers, Ronald
