eavesdropping
This happened twice. The second time I took a screen shot, but I do not have it now because I am not at home. When I went to open Synaptic Package Manager, a small pop up came up saying something about not being able to take control of my mouse and that someone may be eavesdropping on my session. If this is a Linux virus, it is the first I have seen. The first time this happened, I do not think I had installed anything from the internet, so if it is a virus, it might of come from the Ubuntu ISOs I downloaded. I am using the newest Ubuntu, the Hoary hog 5-4.

I suppose you might have gotten a manipulated version of Ubuntu but it just doesn't sound right. Linux viruses attack mail servers - not PC's, but who knows in this day and age.
Did you DL from a legit source - and do you actually mean version 5.04 instead of 5-4?
Why don't you try the new Breezy Badger?

What is Breezy Badger? When did it come out? What is its version number? I did not know it was newer than the 5-04(yes, that is what I meant). Here is a picture of my desktop with the popup. I do not know where my friend downloaded it. I assume you meant a computer used as a workstation when you said, "PCs." Servers are PCs. I saw a virus in the fourth ISO of Fedora Core release 4 once. It was scanned under Windows, so I do not know if it was a Windows virus or a Linux virus.
