Easy Ubuntu Site Down

Hi guys,

I'm kind of new to Linux; I'm trying to access the easy ubuntu website (easyubuntu.freecontrib.org) so that I can download multimedia codes for ubuntu 6.06, but as far as I can tell the site hasn't been accesible since friday.

I've tried searching the web for this program but haven't had any luck; could anbody please advise?

Also, could anybody please tell me how well (or not) ubuntu 6.10 should run on my 1.5gz 256mb ram laptop? 6.06 runs pretty fast...

I would'nt worry about it. Just download vlc. It'll solve everything without you trying to hard. If you know how to open up a terminal. Copy and paste this

sudo apt-get install vlc

Personaly, i prefer the default ubuntu audio programs for music playback (especially rhythmbox

You can add mp3 support for all the default audio apps by running-

Code:

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3

And for all those akward video formats, look at VLC or MPlayer
