DVDfab looks like a commercial product. If what you downloaded was free, i'd bet it is some sort of a trial version. There are many open-source decryptors which have the same or better functionality. (Under Ubuntu, try installing the package "libdvdcss").
Don't quote me on this, but you probably can't convert a .bin into a .deb anyway.
DVDFab Decrypter is the freeware version of DVDFab. It decrypts the latest DRM schemes, such as those employed by Sony. In doing this it exceeds the capabilities of libdvdcss2, DVDShrink, or DVD Decrypter (confusingly, a completely separate product from DVDFab Decrypter).
Unfortunately, DVDFab is only available for Windows. It is quite possible it could be made to run under Wine/Crossover Office, but I am unaware of anyone attempting it yet. There are, however, several tutorials devoted to using DVD Decrypter under Wine and it is easily possible that a similar setup would work with DVDFab.
DVDFab Decrypter only removes DRM and copies the DVD structure to the hard drive. From there, xdvdshrink/dvdshrink or K9copy would be needed to compress a dual-layer DVD's contents to fit on single-layer disks.

Yeah, it took me awhile to find the free version, it does look like a pay only product, on its surface... and in fact, it is, for the higher level functions. But I don't need those, I only need across 2 decoder, or whatever new sony dvd encryption that it is now able to decode.
As for being able to use it in wine. I can use it with 9.19, however, it produces garbage video files. Funny enough, they are playable with mplayer, as it auto compensates for whatever bit offset (or whatever thing) is the issue. It will not play in a standard DVD player, though, or on xines engine (tested with totem and kaffeine).
I hope they/I can solve this one soon, as I would like to use it within linux
If you search http://appdb.winehq.org for dvdfab, the latest version of Wine 0.9.26 has a gold rating on suse10.1 (i run suse10.0)
I still can't get it to work. It runs, it copies to disk, but the resulting .vob files are as stated above -- GARBAGE!
I haven't tried to play them in mplayer, but that won't help me run through dvdshrink to get them on a dvd5... dvdshrink compresses the garbage/mangled video and that's exactly what you see when its on dvd5.

Hey folks!
Thanks for the info! I have been away for a while due to moving my family and pulling my hair out, trying to re-establish an internet connection! (Had to regress to Windoze for the time being in order to get back on line! LOL!)

Late reply: To me, Wine & DVD FAb Decrypter works fine for small files but I'm still struggling with bigger files: they won't decrypt...
I guess I'll have to get the Platinum version

No no no.. I don't suggest that if the free one does not work for you. I doubt there is much difference in the decryption capability. I think they just added other convenience features. Look into this before buying. There would be no point if it also has an issue with your linux or DoZZ system.
I have issues with DVD Decrypter, specifically, the damned "NO DEVICES DETECTED!" problem. THis very same problem that I had with Wine. I am running Debian Etch and use Crossover (demo) instead of Wine. Strangely, DVD Shrink can "see" my DVD drive. I usually copy the whole DVD in my HD with DVDBACKUP in konsole mode, followed by spliting the movie in two discs (4.5 GB) because I hate to shrink the movie and loose a lot of frames. Do you know if a Linux native program can do that?
MOre recently, some DVDs cannot be copied to my HD. For example, dvdbackup gives the error: "mirror of title 7 failed" or something like that. I thought that the DVD itself was dammaged or the DVD drive was failing to read the DVD. Most likely is the new encription that causes that.
Even with DVDShrink, when I try to re-author, I get an error that the main feature can't be read!
SO here I am looking for a new option to brake down those DVDs. I will give the DVDFAB DECRYPTER a try with Crossover. Hope it works. ANyone wants to say something? Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I downloaded DVDFAV DECRIPTER and installed but before finish the install, one message popped up saying that I should install something like ASPI or ASAPI (not sure), so just downloaded and installed as well. Then reboot (as it was requested too). And tried to open one DVD. No way. It seems that the DVD device is not detected. Even by browsing, I can find the ID of the DVD but nothing happens. What could be the problem?

Reason: Got fresh information
Yes, DVDFab works with Ubuntu or Opensuse, I use both. You have to install Wine and then install the DVDFab.
One strange thing about Opensuse is DVDFab doesn't automatically see my DVD Drives when it starts. I have to mount them by hand first. Under Ubuntu, this happens for me when I insert the disc.
At one time I found DVDFabDecrypter frequently necessary to decrypt the latest offerings from Sony. That seems no longer the case and it has been several months since I've used it. Just plain old K3b, (with libdvdcss2, of course), and K9Copy have taken everything I've thrown at them.
