I am having problem playing dvd on ubuntu. Somebody help me. Thank you.

You really need to be a little more specific to make it possible to help you. What program are you using to try to watch DVDs. Is there an error? etc. etc..

I used Totem movie player, but nothing comes on, and also there is no error message.

How are you launching it? Are you launching Totem and clicking play disk? Check /var/log/messages for any errors related to totem. That is a good place to start. Also make sure libdvdcss and the other dvd related libraries are installed. Strange that it doesn't give you an error. Check to make sure /dev/dvd exists and if it doesn't exist make a symbolic link from /dev/dvd to /dev/hdd (or whatever device your dvd-rom drive is listed as on your system).

You have to use Synaptics and install LIBDVDCSS2 and Totem-Xine.

Might as well just install xine-ui. It is far better for dvd playback then totem.
