DVD Playback

Hey, I got the last Kubuntu version, I installed libdvdcss andthe DVDs play but there are weird parrallel lines on the far right part of the screen...

It works, the sound is fine, therest of the pictureis fine ...

What can I do ?

What player are you using, might be worth trying some kind of deintelacing. In Xine, its somewhere in the options, have to set it to expert mode to see the option, then in the video tab I think, theres a few options there to play with. I believe VLC and Mplayer have it built in too. Might clean it up, just a guess from me though. :study:

Thanks I'll try that.
I used Kaffeine and VLC so far ...

OK, I tried it but it doesn't work.

I then wanted to make a screenshot to show here what the problem really is, ans I was shocked, because when I took the snapshot, the picture was perfect, I mean the png file showed exactly what should have been on screen ...

If the video card output is OK then, can you swap monitors to see if it is a hardware problem?

fanda 06-15-2005 02:45 PM

I don't see how it could be such a problem, because DVDs run fine under windows, and any ohter videos do also, and on both systems ...

Hmm, this does sound pretty weird. It does sound like something with the decoder, its not quite outputting right. I got that sometimes, taking a screen would always give me a blank screen of video feed because my card couldn't break the stream up into 2 things. What card do you have? Sounds like the hardware mixer is part of it, but I'm not really sure
