hello- I'm using Dapper 6.06 and when I put a DVD in my drive I don't get an icon on the desktop. I have to go into totem-xine and play it from there, but there is no other way to eject the disc when I'm done other than to sudo umount /media/cdrom0/. It seems that the drive is not mounting / unmounting correctly, yet it does play the discs. Any thoughts on this? THANX!

Oh, this is on an old Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop woth a combo floppy dvd drive.

I've only been using Dapper for a couple of months, now, but I've not had that problem. I'm running a Gateway tower w/Matsushita DVD drive. You might try this: Go to the 'System/Preferences/Removable Drives and Media' menu. Select the 'Storage' tab, and make sure 'Mount removable media when inserted', and 'Auto-run programs on new drives and media' are enabled. Then under the 'Multimedia' tab, make sure 'Play video DVD disks when inserted' is enabled, and "totem %m" is entered in the 'command' dialog box. If that doesn't work, it still might be the combo drive. It could have the ability to play properly, just not mount/initiate automatically.

they're all checked, still no icon and I still have to unmount the drive manuallly. Thanx anyways for the suggestion.
