doubts I always had with apt sources

Hi everyone, i have a doubt:
when you add a repository, and you apt-get install a package, does it check your architecture???
I am using ubuntu64, and sometime i add repositories like deb http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted
and sometimes I specify that I use the main-dapper-amd64?
The ones that does not have the amd64 thing, are 64bit packages?
I always wondered that.

It will check you architecture, when you add "deb http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main" it will look for the Packages file at "http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper/main/binary-${Architecture}/Packages.gz"
so you don't need to worry about that.
