[SOLVED] Do I need to install 'gs' under Synaptic Pack Mgr to use my printer Epson LQ-2550 ?

I have an Epson LQ-2550 driver working on a Panasonic KX-P2135 on XP-pro.
I running Ubuntu (9.10) on other half of drive. Can't get the printer to work. Have an Epson-LQ-2550-epsonc.ppd downloaded file. Cups is installed but accordingly to Synaptic Pack Mgr 'gs' is not installed. I'm under the impression that it also needs to be but afraid to do so unless someone can verify same. Can someone help? poopa (corrected ver # from 4.10 to 9.10 -- my typing error).

Is that version of Ubutnu correct? Are you really running Ubuntu 4.10?

Ubuntu 4.10 was the very first version of Ubuntu. It is almost 5 years old, and it is no longer supported. If you are really running 4.10 you should do a clean install of the current version of Ubuntu, which is 9.10. Your printer would be more likely to work with the current Ubuntu.
