I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on a notebook and a set top box, I decided to do an upgrade to the 11.10 beta, the distribution upgrade on the notebook went smooth without hiccup, but the other machine keep failing and aborted without explanation, it simply said upgrade aborted and the system could be in unstable state, I tried few times but still the same, any idea ? how do I re-do the upgrade from scratch ?
I don't know why you are trying a beta system on a set top box, but anyways, just get the CD of 11.10 beta and do a fresh install, or restore your backup and try it again.
Be aware that the system most likely will have bugs and may crash from time to time, since Ubuntu 11.10 is still a beta and not for productive use yet.
Yes I know beta is unstable, but I can't even install the system is the problem, running a beta release will have problem is another issue, yes a fresh install will probably fix that.
