Disable Gnome Notification Area Pop-Ups
in Gnome using the Notification Area applet (v2.18.1) i am trying to find a method to either disable specific applets' pop-ups, or even pop-ups entirely across all programs 'trayed'. for instance, i find the Power Manger (v2.18.2) pop-ups very useful, but the Network Manager (v0.6.4) balloons bother me to no end
any ideas? thanks in advance!

I think the question that is being asked is not how to stop the programs from running, but how to stop them from displaying a pop-up notification every time something happens.

i'd like to disable these pop-ups, basically, as i feel they are very unnecessary;

but if i could disable all pop-ups across the board that would suffice
thanks

I would also like to disable all of these balloons. I know when I plug in a network or power cable, I don't want the GUI to tell me again.
I've looked through gconf, but didn't see anything obvious. The best thing I've found so far is to do a "chmod -x /usr/lib/notification-daemon/notification-daemon", but that will probably get wiped out during an upgrade sometime...
