Take a look at this http://www.shorewall.net/

i think you cant disable firewall in a fresh ubuntu installation because it doesnt install a firewall by default ... i could be wrong for i'm not deeply immersed by ubuntu yet , probably just tickling of the surface by it for the time being but i do have the urge to install a firewall ...

so apart from shorewall lets us have a look at this one too ::

ubuntu firewall

btw ... dont forget that a firewall can also be installed manually by hand as a startup script somewhere in your system but i have had enough of red hat(too rough and demanding) ... i cant stand it anymore so i think a gui front-end(more polite and nicer) of all sorts is the way things go ...

//goodluck !!

I already configure the firewall with gnome-lokkit

I'd try the gnome-lokkit you already used since you are familiar with it. I neither know of or have used it. You could run Synaptic and search for "firewall" to see what applications are available.

I would use Firestarter, as you can configure, disable and re-enable the firewall with the GUI
