Desktop Wrapped After Return From Screen Saver

Hi Everyone,

We have some lab machines (Dell Optiplex 755 - "Linux Certified"), running 8.04 LTS.

When they go into screensaver mode, then return, there is a black strip down the middle of the screen, and the actual desktop is "wrapped" around the ends.

CTRL-ALT-BKSPC (restart X) does not clear this, and the users do not have access to kill X from the CLI.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks!

Sounds like a broken display driver. Please could you let me know if you've tried a more recent distro since you posted your original message, and what display card is installed. If you start the system in 'rescue mode' and look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log, that might reveal what the problem is.
