desktop scrolling

Kubuntu 7.04
When I run Doom3 in fullscreen mode, then I exit, the desktop resolution doesn't restore to what it was.
I think my desktop is at 1280x1024 and Doom3 runs at 1024x768.
So when I exit Doom3, desktop stays at 1024x768 but the weird thing is the desktop doesn't fit the screen.
I can cause desktop to scroll by moving my mouse around. Has anyone seen this effect?

This also happens to me when I play ut99. I just use
Code:
Alt & Ctrl & + or -
on the numerical keypad to step through the resolutions. That normally works for me. There is another way explained here: http://www.perpetualpc.net/srtd_resolution.html

I would think the Game is at fault because it may not use the system to make these changes. I would think reseting Screen Resolution Preferences would bring things back to normal until the game is run again.

I was thinking that the game is at fault but I can't be sure.
It is rather strange that the desktop doesn't fit. I will try the above solution next time I boot my Kubuntu machine.

Most definately it's the game at fault. To avoid the desktop resizing issue I tend to play my game(s) in windowed mode (selected from the ingame screen options). 1024x768 is large enough even when windowed.

Looks like I have to hit Atl+Ctrl and - a couple of times and it gets back to normal. I have considered window mode but it causes a performance hit.
