custom kernel -- additional driver

Hi,

I'd like to know where can I find a list of all drivers Ubuntu adds in its kernel such as r1000 for Realtek eth0 and so on, 'cause I've not found it.

Is there anybody who knows how the last 2.6.15-26 ubuntu kernel uses the r1000 'cause the Realtek source driver gives me output error when I try to follow its README instruction...it's quite strange don't you think?
Without the correct eth driver I have to use the Ubuntu kernel but I'd like to build my own one.

it is a peeve of mine too, thats why my favorite distro to customize is Slackware (Zenwalk is decent too)

Hi,

Slackware is good, I tried it in the past and I like it,
but for my notebook's hardware detection Ubuntu rocks,
nowaday I use Linux for working on multimedia files so
I appreciate the apt-get tool that manages dependencies.

In the end my interest is to know how Ubuntu really works,
this will increase my knowledge, switching distro may allow me to
compile my own kernel without problem but what about the solution?
