ctrl button stuck in ubuntu

Hi all,

I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (not sure if this matters) but I ran into a weird issue where none of my keys work correctly. What i do know is that when i press f, or any button, it acts as if the CTRL button is held down so pressing f opens up a find window.

Anybody come across this problem and how do I re-create this problem so I know how to prevent it? I have no idea how this happened.

Thank you,

Jonathan

PS i saw someone with the same post but no answers...

Have you poked around in System / Preferences / Keyboard? Lots of settings in there. (I'm not familiar with those options. I just happened to notice them.)
Maybe you accidentally did something that updated something else in there... well, if you don't have peanut butter and beer dribbled down in the keys!

Just a thought...:twocents:

I have one that misbehaves that way too. I unplug it, turn it over, & spank it. This seems to unstick whatever is causing the problem.

No, I don't usually mutter "Bad keyboard, naughty, bad keyboard." while doing this.

I did that with my wireless keyboard, one day it broke and all the little plastic thingies that made contacts on it fell.... 104-105 little gummy things. Took me 6 hours to fix it. I think this was God's way of punishing me for spanking my keyboard.

I almost wish the keys on mine would pop out -- then I could clean underneath them :).

djcham, have you resolved your problem yet?
