CPU stats on desktop


How do I get CPU stats and memory stats on my desktop?

There are at least a dozen packages that will do this, based on your personal preferences. A Google search will find them. No doubt everyone will be happy to tell you their personal favorite - mine is gkrellm.

I use gkrellm with a transparent theme.

I use conky. You can have it "project" data on the desktop or have it in a seperate window. Lots of things can be shown, like temperatures, cpu load, memory usage, disk space, upload speed, download speed and so on.
